倖田來未 | Shake It Up

We keep going!

The fourth single of the twelve in Koda Kumi’s 12 Singles of Christmas series is a worldly entry, tackling on the influences of Brazil for its ‘world countries and garments’ cover art concept, as well as going for a sound that is familiar but is bound to shake up your hearing senses.

We’ve come this far after three singles… how is Kuu going to shake it up this time?

Koda Kumi promoting Shake It Up

Shake It Up

Rating: 5 out of 5.

O, e, o, e, oh! The fourth song in the series is a Latino-flavored track known as “Shake It Up“, which incorporates every sexy flavor of what you’d hear from a top 40 Spanish hit. With its fluttery but sultry guitar looping through the background, topped with booming drums, hand claps, and a fabulous organ to really make this ooze with so much sex appeal, “Shake It Up” is a dance track that even has J.Lo getting ill on the floor. In fact, it is so very reminiscent of the late 90s Latin-dance vibe of J.Lo’s debut song. The song is so fitting for Kuu’s vocals, as well, as it doesn’t require her to go as high as possible, and she delivers it with so much class. Ugh, I miss this Kumi so much. This is such a shake-up from the last three songs; I’m definitely shaking it up tonight.

OVERVIEW

Shake it up, she did! Going for a Spanish/Latino flair with this song, Kuu keeps moving that bar higher and higher each single she goes through in this series project! I hope I don’t get disappointed in the next track, because I hear it’s got a darker sound to it… not a hard rock sound, but very dark R&B…

This single is a definite recommend out of the series. As a stand-alone single, it is a fun and bouncy Koda Kumi track that is bound to have you shake that booty up, and putting in a little tango here and there. O, e, o, e, oh baby. Great job, Kuu.

MUST-LISTEN: Shake It Up
