Third up in the set is “Dare ni mo Iwanai“, otherwise translated to ‘I Won’t Tell Anyone’, which also has a tie-in. This time, Hikki is paired up with Suntory Water, selecting the song as the theme track for the commercial, which also stars Hikki themself. Released literally days following “Time”, “Dare ni mo Iwanai” has Hikki also participating with the same producer of “Time”.
Now, is this song worth keeping a secret, or is it a track that will have Hikki asking if you can keep a secret? Whatever the case may be, we’ll have to tell everyone how I feel about this song, so read on below!

Dare ni mo Iwanai
Translation: I Won’t Tell Anyone
“Dare ni mo Iwanai” opts out of the funk of its predecessor single, “Time”, for a more subdued Fantôme-era pop song, and I actually really like it! It’s not amazing or as right-off-the-bat catchy as “Time” was, but I enjoy the calm, relaxing atmosphere this track has, even with its frantic bongo drum and synth instrumental. It certainly suits the atmosphere of a bottled water commercial.
Because of its subdued instrumental, Hikki’s vocals are quieter, but they deliver with such skill and talent, it is absolutely no wonder they’re Japan’s darling soloist since their debut in 1998. “Dare ni mo Iwanai” also incorporates a slick electronica interlude that adds a fresh element to the overall melody, and with its use of saxophone in conjunction with bongo drums, it also has a very worldly feel that I adore. I won’t tell anyone if you won’t, but… I really like this song. ⬛
This single is a pleasant surprise, especially because it is one of the slower singles prior to ‘BAD Mode’, and as you might know, slow songs aren’t always easy for me to get into; that said, even with its mellow vibe, I caught on to its melody, and “Dare ni mo Iwanai” is a welcome track to the many songs I will repeat day in and day out (haha).
I’ll be giving this one a definite recommend, though I’ll mention it again: I won’t tell anyone if you won’t…
